Indian Origin Sonika Vaid may be the American Idol Winner 2016

Singer Sonika Vaid is the third Indian American contender to have extended the grand ending of American Idol 2016. Sanjaya Malakar and Anoop Desai were the first and the second contestant of Indian origin to make it to the final round of America’s most popular singing contest in the 6th and 8th seasons individually.


The 15th season of American Idol got a 20-year old, Sonika Vaid Indian American among the finalists. Sonika representing from Massachusetts State who win hearts of all judges with her soulful voice from day one and all voter across the globe. Born to the parents of Indian origin, Sonika's mother- Ananya (Anna) and father- Kuldip (Ken) Vaid, both moved to the United States at very young ages. Her father an eye surgeon. Whereas her mother is working as a real estate developer. Sonika has been singing since age of three.



Sonika’s talents inherited from her maternal side. Her Mom knew she had a natural gift and trained her to bring her on this stage. Sonika still planning to continue with her studies despite her first love to peruse her career in music. Sonika want to make her career likes her Dad to give back to community. Sonika admire her dad who give people their vision.

After winning viewers over her first audition on "American Idol," Sonika has attracted fans from across the world and she is proud to be Indian origin. After a favorable response from judges, Sonika made it through to the Top Six. Next week's "American Idol," which will sees the Top Six trimmed down to five, will air on FOX from eight p.m. to ten p.m. on Thursday, March 17 visit americanidol.com.
