Shocking meeting between Shri Ram and Ravan!

As Ravan the mighty king of Lanka lay fallen on the battle field breathing his last. Shri Ram asked Laxman to rush to Ravan and request him to share his knowledge before he passes.

Laxman did so how ever his ways were not that of a student seeking knowledge. To this Ravan responded by looking the other way. Then Shri Ram went to Ravan and requested like a true student seeking knowledge would. With palms joined with extreme humility, Shri Ram said: Lord of Lanka, you abducted my wife, a terrible crime for which i have been forced to punish you. Now, you are no more my enemy. I request you to share your wisdom with me. Please do that, for if you die without doing so, all your wisdom will be lost forever to the world.

Ravan opened his eyes and raised his arms to pay respect to Shri Ram and said If only i had more time as your teacher then as your enemy. I have very little time so I cannot share much but let me tell you important lessons i have learned in my life.

1 - The first thing Ravan told Shri Ram was that one should complete any auspicious work as soon as possible and keep delaying the inauspicious work as much possible.

Things that are bad for you seduce you easily; you run towards them impatiently. So you must defer the bad action as much as you can and avoid them.

Things that are actually good for you, fail to attract you; you shun them creatively, finding powerful excuses to justify your procrastination. So you must do good action without any delay and as much early as you can.



 2 - The second thing Ravan told Shri Ram was to never underestimate one’s enemy. He said that he did this mistake of underestimating the monkeys and bears lesser or incompetent and he lost the battle against them.

He said, when he asked Lord Brahma to make him immortal, he said no one else except for monkeys and bears could kill him. This is because he believed that both these living beings were not capable to kill him. This was his mistake.



3 - The third and final thing Ravan told Shri Ram that one should not reveal one’s life secret to anyone in the world.

Here also Ravan made a mistake as Vibhishan knew the secret of his death. Ravan knew this was his biggest mistake of life.

This is wisdom of my life, Shri Ram. My final words. I give it to you! said Ravan and died.
