It lies within Glen Canyon national recreational area and the bend of river belong with the glen canyon chain. Horseshoe Bend overlooks is 4,200 feet above sea level and the Colorado River is at 3,200 feet above sea level making it a breathtaking 1,000 foot drop. It is a short ¾ of a mile hike from US Route 89.
